Hi Guys, I haven't been here for a while - just checked in and found this question on Plaquenil - for me it took approx nine weeks to begin to work - I'm only taking 200mg per day so far - it seemed to stop working a few weeks later - most days are pretty good I s'pose but I drop nearly every afternoon. Hydroxychloroquine oral tablet is available as a brand-name drug and a generic drug. Brand name Plaquenil. Hydroxychloroquine comes only as a tablet you take by mouth. The usual starting dose of Plaquenil is 200 mg twice a day or 400 mg once a day, administered orally, in people weighing 80 kg or more. The usual dosage works for most people who take Plaquenil, but it is possible to increase or decrease the dose based on individual needs. It's important to watch for possible side effects and toxicity.

Today, it is used to treat rheumatoid arthritis, some symptoms of lupus, childhood arthritis (or juvenile idiopathic arthritis) and other autoimmune diseases. Hydroxychloroquine is in a class of medications that was first used to prevent and treat malaria.

It was combined with Azythromycin and Minocyclin - also my first round of treatment. There is what Summer wrote.
