How to tell if plaquenil is working

It is a disabling and painful condition which can lead to substantial loss of mobility due to pain and joint destruction. I've been off it a few days and thankfully my plumbing is back to normal it seems and the huge acne has stopped/gone. The disease is also systemic in that it often also affects many extra-articular tissues throughout the body including the skin, blood vessels, heart, lungs, and... Since I'm a woman I managed to bypass the plumbing problems while on the prednisone (I'm on 30 mg), but you're right, the acne is BAD!! Considering the state my joints are in though, I suppose that's the least of my problems.

TELL YOUR DOCTOR Hydroxychloroquine Plaquenil is considered a disease-modifying anti-rheumatic drug DMARD. It can decrease the pain and swelling of arthritis, prevent joint damage and reduce the risk of long-term disability. Hydroxychloroquine is in a class of medications that was first used to prevent and treat malaria. Hydroxychloroquine brand namePlaquenil is a disease-modifying anti-rheumatic drug DMARD approved for adults with RA. It is often given in combination with methotrexate and sulfasalazine a treatment known as triple therapy, to help slow RA disease progression for patients who do not get relief from methotrexate therapy alone. 1,2 Two plaquenil a day and 2400 mg of ibuprofen a day that's 12 regular dose! and I went into total remission. Of course my stomach is crap now. After 25 years of remission, the RA returned. Different now that I'm older 55, more subtle. Chose plaquenil again, and working wonders, but for my permanent damage. Get your eyes checked, a must.

My doctor was only able to find it after I requested a MRI of my hands. Of course neither has the prednisone, sulfasalazine, or methotrexate. Hi guys, I was diagnosed with RA in April 08 and I'm 29 years old. I've been on plaquenil for over 4 months and it hasn't done squat for me.

Mar 24, 2011 I tell ya, these AI diseases are nothing to sneeze at and neither is bad fibromyalgia. I don't know if we get the fibro worse with AI diseases or what but I was in so much pain. The fatigue was horrible too. I am glad I switched to the cymbalta, perhaps the combination of it and 400 mg of plaquenil will work for me. Link between low white cell count and taking Plaquenil? Low white cells are a part of the autoimmune issue. This is something that I have dealt with for years. I have been on the Plaquenil a couple of years now and my immunologist told me that Plaquenil doesn't cause the same issues as the DMARDS or the methotrexates, imuran.

Reasons for fluctuating white blood cell counts?
