I read that the sulfa in Plaquenil is different from those in antibiotics and most people with Lupus have an allergy to Sulfa but can take Plaquenil.

    It was working really well and just recently my rheumy told that I was in remission. Then I had an allergic reaction to the plaquenil - a rash all over my body, neck, arms and legs. All of my symptoms of lupus and sjogrens are coming back and I am feeling worse each day. It has very few short term side effects and it does hold the inflamation. It seems very strange that you would be taking it with no problem and then all of a sudden have a reaction. I had been taking plaquenil since April for my lupus and sjogrens.
