I don't know if anyone can help as this isn't technically lupus related. I've been on plaquenil for 6 months for suspected Sjogren's syndrome I don't have antibodies for Sjorgren's or Lupus but I do have Hashimoto's and have all the symptoms for Sjorgren's so the rheumatologist suggested a trial of plaquenil. I used to get them too but really do not get them any longer since being diagnosed with sjogrens and being on plaquenil I used to use L-Lysine too and it.is a horrible time of year - too cold, too dry, we are all getting sick with something or other, add a flare and then cold sores.uuggghh.". On plaquenil always made me feel very bad. hate it. before my diagnosis I was tired, aneamic, stiff etc since the plaquenil I jus flare all the time. it was so bad I just came off it for several months. got so ill they wanted me to go on chemo based drugs but I did not want that either. so reluctantly went back on the plaquenil. imo its made me worse.

Plaquenil is also an antirheumatic medicine and is used to treat symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis and discoid or systemic lupus erythematosus. This medicine is not effective against all strains of malaria.

One bad sickness can blow out my allotment of sick days for the year and often does. Or, it can simply be that with the weather changing and allergens in the air my nose is responding in kind. For now I will wait, push the fluids, rest and pray that tomorrow brings a clear nose and bright new day because I just don’t have time for “the sniffles” right now. The usual adult dose for treating malaria is 800 mg initially, followed by 400 mg 6-8 hours later and then 400 mg at 24 hours and 48 hours. The dose for malaria prevention is 400 mg every week starting 1 or 2 weeks before exposure and for 4 weeks after leaving the high risk area. Most of the scientific evidence is strongly against her, but Granny just might be on to something. Sure, people tend to get sick during the late fall and winter.
